It’s been a while! But then again, it was like this last year, and again I posted like two posts and then gave up. Why? Was I bored? Uninterested? No. Lazy. Pure and simple. Didn’t feel like putting in the effort. 100% my fault, I admit.
In the past 10 months, I have graduated high school, moved to Spain, and started University. Spain was uncomfortable to get used to. I think I accepted that I lived here now, that this isn’t a stepping stone, or a vacation, about a month ago.
It’s a culture shock if I am being honest. I never thought I would miss the thick green forests of Peachtree City, yet here we are. Costa del Sol is hot, dry, and brown. All the colors here are so warm.
The weather is nice, I won’t complain about that. The winter here is 50 degrees F at it’s coldest.
And yet I haven’t gotten into a routine yet. That’s where mindfulness comes in.
If I want something I have to work for it.
I can’t use the excuse of “the time isn’t right,” it’s about making the time for doing what you want.
I read an article, “How To Re-Invent Yourself And Hack Your Biology (according to a really cool study)” by Benjamin P. Hardy, where basically he says to “fake it ’till you make it.” Not only does his research prove this works but I know from personal experience that it does.
“It always seems impossible until it is done.”
The idea is that if you act like it you do it, so then you are not acting. At first you feel as if you are a fraud (understandable as most people tend to not like acting unlike themselves), but over time this goes away. It centered strongly around being mindful of everything that you do. Actively make decisions in your life. So in order for me to achieve what I want, I need to actively do what I want.
